I want to share with you an incredible ministry opportunity that God has put before me. Every year, my church sends hundreds of people around the world to help further gospel and bring hope to the hopeless. This year is no exception! I have the opportunity to go on a trip with over 60 others from Christ’s Church of the Valley to Nairobi, Kenya from June 10th through June 20th.
I’m extremely excited to be a part of this team! This is a strategically planned trip to bring the light of Christ into the slums of Nairobi. There will be several different teams that will help to accomplish our mission, including construction, medical, sports, VBS and a technical team. Not only will these teams be ministering directly to the people in Nairobi, but we will also be doing some hands on support for our missionaries, who are already on the ground in Kenya.
While God has opened up a door for me to be a part of this team that will bring hope and light to His people around the world, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this process in two very specific ways. First, you can help pray for me and the rest of the Nairobi Team. We will need prayers that God will prepare us for our visit and bless our efforts as we minister to the people of Nairobi. We will also need prayers that our financial needs will be met. At this time we need to raise $3,000 each to attend this trip, and that is quite a challenge!
Another way you can be involved is to help provide that financial support. Would you consider supporting me with a small donation?
We have made it more convenient than ever to support this effort by setting up a secure location online for you to give.

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to read this and offering your support with the resources that God has given you. I’m extremely excited to share this journey with you!
sponge: a person or thing that absorbs something freely.
For the next 2 days, this is what I will aspire to be; a sponge. I’m in California at the Catalyst West Coast leadership conference. So I’m here to soak it all in… be encouraged… be inspired… and most of all, be challenged in my thinking. I hope to come away renewed, refreshed and re-energized to lead with passion, self-control and conviction.
My prayer… God, make me a sponge.
This year, for our Easter services, we wrapped up a 5 week series entitled “The Warrior.” We had an incredible response to The Warrior series over the 4 weeks coming into Easter. This really helped us to gain some momentum and as it turned out, we had record breaking attendance numbers on Easter weekend; over 23,000 showed up on our campus! God was truly at work… and we give Him ALL the glory on this one.
As you may have seen in my earlier post, we used The Warrior series graphics from LifeChurch.tv. The stuff they put out is stellar!! We are able to use the overall art direction, and the graphic elements to create our own feel for the series – as I’ve said, we had a great response, especially from the men in our church.
Here are some photos and videos from Easter. The theme of our Easter services was “The Victorious Warrior” — revealing Jesus as THE Victorious Warrior. We stuck with the traditional japanese theme that the Warrior graphics define. The 5 minute countdown / intro into the service featured a traditional Taiko drummer. The video below is cool, but the live experience was bone chilling! Ken also stuck around and played his drums during the opening song, Let God Arise.

One of the other beautiful moments from the Easter services was the singing of Amazing Grace during communion. Ken, our traditional Taiko drummer, also plays a japanese wood flute. He added some beauty to the already beautiful and amazing vocal that Dianne gave. Check it out… (sorry for the low quality, it’s all we had)

Lastly, here are a few photos of Ken, the Taiko drummer, from the services.
Definitely NOT your typical Easter program…. no lillies or daisies here!
The folks at Google are stinkin’ genius. Sometimes I wish I could have this much fun with my job…
If you’ve got some spare time on your hands, go check out how they did it.
